I would like to share some of the poems that I have been weaving with over the winter.
Don't go away, come near.
Don't be faithless, be faithful.
Find the antidote in the venom.
Come to the root of the root of yourself.
-Rumi
In a book called Celestial Gallery, Romio Shrestha writes regarding Tibetan medicine, "Our body has the capacity to cure itself from any ailment. Every plant, every herb, every remedy has its counterpart within the subtle essences of the human body."
I just finished teaching at the Augustana campus of The U of A (a four month term). They have comprehensive and engaging fine arts options in both the practice and theory of art. Also on campus, is The Chester Ronning Centre for the Study of Religion and Public Life. www.augustana.ca/centres/ronningcentre. I would highly recommend the campus to anyone interested in a Liberal Arts degree.
The ebb and flow of my winter months are painted onto the threads of the following canvases.

the coloured web

THE COLOURED WEB
The coloured web is a center of learning. The purpose of the classes, though guised in the practice of representational drawing and painting, is to liberate the mind and body from the illusions of greed, fear, and separateness. The artistic process requires patience, stillness, and an opening of the eyes and heart. The meditative practice of making art deepens the connection between yourself and the world around you.
In sight of Love, fear isn't even as great as a single hair:
in the law of Love, everything is offered as a sacrifice.
