Hi all

Here are a few pieces that I have been working on in the studio, as well as a few shots of the studio school itself. Some of these paintings can be seen this weekend at the Savoy Lounge, 10401 Whyte Ave, Edmonton, during an art auction in support of breast cancer research. Please click on link below for more information.

Staring into the Lotus
60" X 48"
oil on canvas
2005

The painting "Staring into the Lotus" is both a portrait of a childhood friend painted during her journey through breast cancer, and also a symbol of the healing strength of the Earth. During one of the photo shoots, the light in Vanessa's kitchen cast a remarkable shadow across her body, obscuring her face, and distorting the forms of her figure. The extremes of light and dark parallel the complex ups and downs of a woman's experience.

The Temple
84" X 48"
oil on canvas
2005

This is the painting that the Government of Alberta commissioned. The piece now hangs in the Government Building in Edmonton with the title "Fortis et Liber".

Return to the Garden
17.5" X 13.5"
oil on paper
2005

"Return to the Garden" is for sale at the Art auction at the Savoy Lounge, Edmonton, on Sunday December 18. The auction is a fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The composition for "Staring into the Lotus" resolved itself in this preliminary sketch.

Untitled (Sound)
48' X 36"
oil on canvas
in progress

That's it for paintings. Here are a few shots from various workshops in the new "faerie land" studio-school that has become my basement.

Please join us on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Savoy Lounge, and participate in the silent auction in support of breast cancer research.
