Janurary 2005
Happy New Year

» I hope these next 12 months are full of beauty, love and colourful mysteries.

In Edmonton we have been blessed with the clean whiteness of snow that falls every other day. I feel as if I can start over with a clear slate at any moment. All colour, all emphasis, all descriptive characteristics of form have disappeared. There is a biting cold that comes with this clarity. But, from the warmth of our little apartment it has a calming, uplifting effect.

This new year brings with it several changes for me.

First, I will be sending out a monthly newsletter like this. Those who wish not to receive it, please send me a quick note and I will take you off the mailing list.

My major news is that I have taken a break from teaching at the University of Alberta in order to paint, and to concentrate on my little figurative art school. The doors open January 3 '05. The Grand Opening will be on February 12 '05.

The school is located at 10026 102 Street in downtown Edmonton. It is called The Coloured Web, inspired by my travels teaching workshops across the province of Alberta. It has been enriching for me to experience the loving colourful vibrations that artist everywhere put out as they work on their art. I hope to broaden the scope of my travels, weaving a web of peace and connecting to others who are doing the same.

If you are interested in attending classes at the Coloured Web, a full schedule is posted on my website www.tessanunn.com. If you are interested in setting up a workshop in your city or community, please contact me soon, as my schedule for this year is filling.

Finally I hope that some of you will visit my website and look at the work that I have been doing over the last few years. As most artists, I feel that I live in a cave. I am hungry for discourse and feedback on the paintings (this is particularly directed to my many teachers...).

I hope this letter finds you all well.

I also hope this note prompts a re-connection. As probably all of you know, I had indeed cut myself off from the world in order to heal from my experiences in NY after September 11, 2001. In light of the new tragedies in South East Asia, and the ongoing horrors in the Middle East, I believe it is time to come out of my cave and re-kindle relationships. Perhaps we can all make a difference on this planet by simply making art and being in love.

Peace
Tessa Nunn
